There are four accounts of the life of Christ recorded in the New Testament \u2013
\nMatthew, Mark, Luke and John. They all tell us the same story, but from different
\nviewpoints or with different emphasis. One chooses to emphasize the parable of
\nJesus, another one skips over the parables and dwell on the nature and character
\nof our Lord. Putting all four gospel accounts together gives us a fuller and richer
\nportrait of the life and work of our Lord Jesus.
\n\u65b0\u7d04\u7684\u56db\u5377\u798f\u97f3\u66f8\uff0c\u5206\u5225\u662f\u99ac\u592a\u798f\u97f3\u3001\u99ac\u53ef\u798f\u97f3\u3001\u8def\u52a0\u798f\u97f3\u548c\u7d04\u7ff0
\n\u798f\u97f3\uff1b\u5b83\u5011\u90fd\u8a18\u8f09\u4e86\u57fa\u7763\u7684\u751f\u5e73\u3002\u96d6\u7136\u5167\u5bb9\u662f\u76f8\u540c\u4e00\u81f4\uff0c\u4f46\u5404\u5377\u66f8
\n\u90fd\u6709\u8457\u4e0d\u540c\u7684\u89c0\u9ede\u89d2\u5ea6\uff0c\u6709\u8457\u4e0d\u540c\u7684\u91cd\u9ede\u3002\u6709\u7684\u5f37\u8abf\u8036\u7a4c\u6240\u8aaa\u7684\u6bd4
\n\u55bb\uff0c\u6709\u7684\u537b\u8457\u91cd\u63cf\u8ff0\u4e3b\u7684\u6027\u60c5\u53ca\u672c\u8cea\u3002\u7d9c\u5408\u56db\u798f\u97f3\u4e00\u8d77\u4f86\u7814\u8b80\uff0c\u6703
\n\u8b93\u6211\u5011\u5c0d\u4e3b\u8036\u7a4c\u7684\u751f\u5e73\u53ca\u4e8b\u5de5\uff0c\u6709\u8457\u66f4\u8c50\u5bcc\u3001\u66f4\u6df1\u5165\u7684\u8a8d\u8b58\u3002

\nLet us look at each Gospel one by one and then compare them all together.
\n(1) The Gospel of Matthew
\nMatthew is the writer and is often called as \u201cMatthew the tax collector\u201d
\n(Matt 10:2). He was a Jew.
\nThe Gospel of Matthew starts with the genealogy of Christ. It focuses on
\nJesus as the King, the one who fulfills all the promises given by the Old
\nTestament prophets, regarding a coming Deliverer for the Jews. There
\nare more than 40 OT passages quoted in this book.
\n(2) The Gospel of Mark
\nIt is generally agreed that the writer, Mark, is the same person as the
\nJohn Mark mentioned in Acts (12:12, 12:25, 13:5, 13:13). His name also
\nappears in Colossians 4:10, Philemon 1:24, 2 Timothy 4:11. He was
\ninvolved in the ministry with Paul and Peter.
\nMark is an action-packed account of Jesus as a servant. The emphasis is
\non Jesus\u2019 miracles and actions.
\n(3) The Gospel of Luke
\nLuke is the writer and is probably the only Gentile writer in the Bible. He
\nis referred to by Paul as \u201cLuke the beloved physician\u201d (Colossians 4:14) .
\nThis book has a greater focus on the \u201chuman side\u201d of Jesus.
\n(4) The Gospel of John
\nJohn is the writer and clearly makes the statement that he is the disciple
\nwho testifies to these things and who wrote them down (John 21:24).
\nAnd he also clearly states the purpose of this book in John 20:30-31 (Jesus
\ndid many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which
\nare not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe
\nthat Jesus is the Christ, the son of God, and that by believing you may have
\nlife in his name.)
\nThis book often focuses on the deity of Jesus Christ. It focuses on specific
\nevents or details not mentioned in the other three accounts. Much of the
\ncontent found in this Gospel is quite unique like the beginning chapter \u201cIn
\nthe beginning was the Word, \u2026 instead of giving the genealogy of Christ.<\/p>\n
Questions regarding the comparison on the four Gospels:
\n(1) In which Gospel do we find eight Beatitudes?
\nAnswer: Matthew. See Matthew 5:2-10
\n(2) Which two Gospels give us the most information about Christ\u2019s birth and
\nvery early childhood?
\nAnswer: Matthew and Luke
\n(3) What is the only gospel that mentions Christ assigning the care of his
\nmother to one of his disciplines at the crucifixion?
\nAnswer: John. See John 19:26<\/p>\n
(4) Which Gospel records the miracle of turning water into wine?
\nAnswer: John. See John 2:1-11
\n(5) What is the only gospel that records the words of the criminal who was
\ncrucified with Christ?
